In NYC, Robots are Displacing People in the Medical and SPA Industries

Spas and physicians’ offices in New York City are being overrun by robots.

The “hands” of the masseuse massaging you at this New York City spa could not be loaded with blood but with data instead.

More sophisticated than the typical massage chair you’d find in a mall, Aescape’s first completely automated AI masseuse can work more quickly than your go-to therapist.

Anyone using the Aescape app can reserve a half-hour session for $60. No membership is required to purchase it; it will be accessible to the general public at ten Equinox sites around New York City this spring.

The Aescape massage tables with artificial intelligence utilize two robotic “arms” to capture more than 1.1 million 3D data points of the user’s body as they lay on the table. The user is given friction-free clothing by the company upon arrival. Then, using a tablet located under the headrest, it can pinpoint certain anatomical areas to direct the massage’s “hands” to apply pressure.

Robots in SPA Replacing People NYC

The way our robots move is really familiar. Founder and CEO of Aescape, Eric Litman, told The Post that this is the most crucial thing. You must have an intuitive grasp of this material. However, we were also committed to enhancing the capabilities that might be provided only by technological means.

With its two heated “hands” that mimic human hands in form and strength, the Aescape massage robot can do twice as much work in half the time it would take a human to do the same amount of labor by moving at the same rate and applying equal pressure.

Because it always has been, when we imagine physical touch, we picture it as coming from another person. But when you’re here, you immediately realize the significance of touch; the idea that it’s technical or human-made sort of fades away.

When all of Aescape’s planned capabilities are operational, these robot masseuses will be on demand so you can get a cheap, consistent, and customized massage whenever you want.

“We want you to be able to lean in and feel right at home, but we also want to make sure that we’re delivering on all the ways that technology could enable,” Litman stated.

In recent years, seamless integration of high-tech devices into nearly every facet of human life has become the norm. Even doctors, nail techs, and masseuses are being replaced by robots in the health and wellness sector.

New York City has automated more than just massages.

At Rockefeller Center, Hudson Yards, and JFK Airport, you can get a manicure for $10 in just 10 minutes, and at your grandma’s house, you can have a robot that helps out with household chores using artificial intelligence.

Clockwork is a state-of-the-art manicure machine that uses artificial intelligence and 3D technology to outline the nail and fill in a professional-looking polish change in less time than it takes some stylists to choose a nail color. It’s like inserting a pod into a Nespresso machine, so stylists in a hurry can get a manicure.

Hundreds of elderly New Yorkers have been given robots by state officials to help them fight the loneliness epidemic. The robots can do everything from reminding them to take their medication to connecting them with loved ones to making small chat and cracking jokes.

In the medical field, robots have also begun to dispensing preventative medicine recommendations in the role of human doctors.

Famous people like Kim Kardashian have promoted the controversial MRI body scans offered by Prenuvo, which specialists say can detect diseases including multiple sclerosis (MS), fatty liver disease, disc herniation, and musculoskeletal disorders early on. The scans cost between $999 and $2,499.

In a move that could shake up the healthcare sector, Forward, another health tech company, is planning to launch CarePod, which it calls “the world’s first AI doctor’s office.” This self-service cube will allegedly allow patients to screen for conditions related to diabetes, hypertension, depression, and anxiety.

Patients in New York and other big US cities will be able to use the service later this year for just $99 a month.

You may now get Botox injections and eyelash extensions applied by robots all around the globe.

Since New York is “filled with motivated people who really want the most out of life” and offers speedy target services, Aescape decided to launch its breakthrough robot masseuse there.

An increasing number of people are aware that our lifespans are increasing, according to Litman. “By beginning to care for ourselves at a younger age, we have a chance to live better, longer.”
