How AI Camera will Work?
This camera will capture images of all passing vehicles and will identify if the passengers and driver are wearing seatbelts or not. It will also notice if the driver is using a mobile while driving.
Although the camera is using AI and providing confident results, images are subsequently reviewed by a human for further confirmation.
Plymouth City Council expects that it will be a good step as it will provide more details about the little offenses that sometimes lead to big accidents. They also clarified that they don’t want to catch people, they want to make sure that more people are driving properly.
This step has provided good results as people are becoming more careful in their driving.
Before this, AI was utilized in traffic monitoring but only to check the speed. It will be a good step to use AI for further assistance in the future.
